The National Park Service, Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail is proud to welcome a unique and fun exhibit to the Omaha-Council Bluffs Metro Area. We hope you will visit each kite location to experience the exhibit in its entirety. Along the way, you will surely learn a little about the history of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, its people and its landscapes, as interpreted by these 30 original art kites. Enjoy.
About the exhibit
I am continually amazed at how kites can be used as an art medium, reflecting not only color, shape and design, but also interpreting history. They've been enjoyed by millions of visitors to Billings, Montana, Portland, Oregon, Louisville, Kentucky and Great Falls, Montana while on display inside museums. But their beauty is only fully realized when taken outside, into their natural element, and flown. In the air they take on a radiance that only appears when they are flying high in the sky with the sun shining through them. We look forward to sharing their magnificence with the Omaha and Council Bluffs community.
